Hot Springs has something for everyone. From cool shops to hiking trails to a relaxing dip in an actual HOT SPRING!

We stayed in the Arlington Resort Hotel & Spa, and it was gorgeous. The staff was courteous, and the rooms are being renovated. You can walk to everything just about. There is a park just behind the hotel and metered parking. If you go down the street just a little way, the meters are cheaper for a longer time. It's worth the walk. There is also a free parking garage in the area (check for times).

While it isn't pet-friendly, except for service dogs, check out the Ohio Club for good burgers and great atmosphere and history.

Hot Springs surprised me with how quaint and charming it is. Tucked away in the foothills, Hot Springs offers beauty, luxury, and nature. There are countless spas to take advantage of the hot springs water and relax. In the downtown area, there are so many cool shops and delicious restaurants.

Not only is Hot Springs known for their, well, hot springs, but you can also go digging for crystals! Yes, there are several locations that offer gift shops to buy these beautiful and unique gems, but you can also go digging for them yourself! There are amazing hiking trails, campgrounds, and streams to go wading in this National Park area. So whether you want to get outside or relax indoors, Hot Springs has something for everyone…even your pooch!

Dogs are welcome on all 26 miles of the Hot Springs National Park trails. There are Pet Waste Stations located on both ends of Bathhouse Row and in the campground. (But they are not allowed in Federal buildings, except for Service Animals.)

The Hot Springs Bark Park is open year-round from dawn to dusk. There are separate sections for large and small dogs. The park includes agility equipment, bag dispensers, benches, and an antique fire hydrant. It is located along the Hot Springs Creek Greenway Trail.

The Garvan Woodland Gardens is one of Hot Springs most popular attractions with a 210-acre botanical garden on Lake Hamilton. There are 4.5 miles of trails, and dogs are required to be on a six-foot leash. Lake Hamilton is one of three manmade lakes built along the Ouachita River, and it is popular with boaters and fishermen during the summer.

I was pleasantly surprised that hardly anyone even gave a second thought to me bringing my dog into their establishments. I had his “service dog” vest on, but it didn’t seem to matter. This was a refreshing experience to so many places that seem to give you a hard time about having a dog in their place even if it is a service dog, but not here. My dog, Elton, seemed to be as welcome in these places as I was.
